The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday confirmed thatpeople in Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Eid-al-Adha in several parts of theregion and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

The verified handle of spokesperson of the Ministry of HomeAffairs on microblogging site Twitter shared photographs of people offering EidNamaz at mosques in places like Srinagar and Shopian.

According to the Home Ministry, at least 10,000 peopleoffered prayers at the Jama Masjid in Baramulla. Similarly, people offered prayerspeacefully in other places like Anantnag, Budgam and Bandipore. No untowardincident was reported from any part of the region, confirmed the MHAspokesperson.“People come out in good numbers to pray on Eid in Jammu AndKashmir. Prayers concluded at prominent mosques in Srinagar and Shopian. Over4500 offer prayers at Eidgah Jammu,” read one tweet.Another tweet read, “Infofrom various districts in Jammu And Kashmir. Eid prayers offered peacefully inall local mosques of Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipore, without anyuntoward incident. Jamia masjid old town Baramulla witnessed approx 10,000people offering prayers.”

The Kashmir Zone of Jammu and Kashmir Police also confirmedon Twitter that prayers were conducted peacefully in various parts of theValley. “Eid prayers concluded peacefully in various parts of the valley. Nountoward incident reported so far.”Srinagar that people came out of their homesto offer Eid prayers at mosques.

However, the Eid celebrations in the Valley come amidrenewed security threat, with the intelligence agencies suggesting thatJaish-e-Mohammad terrorists might try to carry out attacks in the disguise ofIndian Army officials.In the wake of the fresh terror threat, the securityagencies are maintaining a strict vigil in all parts of Srinagar. A number ofwomen security personnel have also been deployed to prevent any untowardincident.
